Let’s be honest… there are a lot of moving pieces to keep track of when you create a website.
From making banners, managing the client requests and getting content, to installing plugins and customizing the design – sometimes it’s hard to keep track of everything at launch time.
Sometimes people forget things.
Ok fine, sometimes I forget things.
EMBARASSING MOMENT: On more than one occasion, I’ve left the Settings > Reading > Search Engine Visibility checked (to discourage search engines from indexing the site), launched the site and a few months later I get an email from a new client like this:
I had a bad feeling about that.
GGGrrrr. I did it again.
It wasn’t Google, it was me.
After logging into the site, I instantly saw the problem.
I never unchecked that evil-little box and Google has been avoiding his site like the plague.
Not a fun email to respond to.
This checklist includes the items that should be reviewed and completed BEFORE going live with the website.
You can keep this page open and check the boxes OR scroll down a bit and download/print the PDF.
Either way you’ll be in good shape to launch that site* once you’ve done all these points.
PS: Don’t ever buy your dog a penguin – apparently it’s like catnip for dogs.
